Time to Beat Procrastination
Time to Beat Procrastination
Imagine you are finally going to achieve something great, it is on the tip of your fingers, but you throw it away because you did not do a task that would lead you to that achievement. That's what procrastination does.
Procrastination is avoiding doing essential or challenging tasks for fun or leisure activities.
If you see yourself procrastinating incessantly, then it's time to make a stop. Procrastination allows you to lose out on opportunities. After all, you were just not prepared or available because you kept putting things back, not realizing that your "laters" are still not done yet or even forgotten.
Procrastination also brings anxiety. You are overwhelmed because of the amount of work that has piled up, and time runs out on you. It can cause self-hatred because you know you spent a lot of time on leisure activities instead of challenging tasks. So the next time you say, "I'll do it later." Think about how the job you are supposed to work on could lead to the bigger picture.
Procrastinating is a bad habit, but if you work hard, you will eventually overcome procrastination.
1. You need to acknowledge that you are procrastinating.
2. Forgive yourself. You cannot change the past. Use those experiences to help you move forward.
3. Take action now. Remove this thought from your mind, "I will do this later." Get it done. You do not want tasks to stack upon you that will cause anxiety and stressful situations.
4. Following a schedule will allow you to be more focused and consistent with what you need to accomplish.
5. Minimize distractions. You may have said this many times, "I deserve a break. Let me watch a video." Those few minutes morphed into hours.
6. Find a cue. Be it a song or inspiring quote to get you going. It would be best if you have a signal that will get you in routine, yielding satisfying rewards.
7. Pray about it.
Think of what more you can accomplish when you stop procrastinating. You will have time to complete a task appropriately, and less stress will be weighing you down. Remember, flowers know when to bloom; birds know when to migrate, and even bears know when to prepare for hibernation. Their actions are necessary for survival. Why should you keep putting off things to benefit you? If you know that completing a task is beneficial to you, then why procrastinate?
